Immutable Token Metadata on Solana

What locking token metadata means, when to do it around launch, and what to double-check before you sign.

Dexmint Admin

This tool permanently locks a Solana token metadata: its name, symbol, and logo, so nobody can ever edit it again. Not you, not Dexmint, not whoever holds the wallet in five years. It is a one-signature trust signal. Anyone checking your token on an explorer sees the metadata frozen exactly as it is today, which is something careful buyers look for before they put money in.

The lock only becomes real once you approve it from your own wallet. Until that signature, nothing changes.

What immutable metadata means on Solana

Every Solana token has a metadata account storing its name, symbol, and a link to its logo. While that account is mutable, the update authority can rewrite any of it at any time. A token could quietly change its name or image after people bought it. This tool switches that mutable flag off, permanently. Explorers then show the metadata as immutable, and nobody can turn it back on.

Note what it does not touch: supply and freezing are separate. Locking the metadata does not revoke the mint or freeze authority. Those have their own tools, linked below.

When to make your token immutable

The usual moment is around launch, once your branding is final. Many rug-check tools and DEX screeners flag mutable metadata as a risk, so locking it removes one reason for buyers to hesitate, especially combined with revoking the mint authority.

Hold off if there is any chance you will rebrand, fix a typo, or swap the logo. Double-check the spelling of your name and symbol and how the logo looks in a wallet first. If you want a free dry run, do the whole flow on Devnet. It costs nothing and behaves identically.

The locking flow

You connect the wallet that holds the update authority, usually the one that created the token. No other wallet can lock the metadata. You pick the token from your wallet list or paste its mint address, and the tool reads its live on-chain state to show the supply, decimals, and authorities.

This is your last chance to change anything. If the name, symbol, or logo needs a fix, do it with the Update Metadata tool before you continue. The tool tells you upfront if the metadata is already immutable or the connected wallet is not the update authority, so you never pay for a transaction that would fail. A flat fee appears in the fee ledger before you approve anything, coupon codes apply there too, and after you read the warning and sign, you get an explorer link once the change confirms.

Frequently asked questions

Can I undo making my token immutable?

No. This is permanent and irreversible. Neither you, Dexmint, nor anyone else can ever edit the name, symbol, or logo again. That finality is exactly what makes it a trust signal.

Does this affect my token supply or freeze authority?

No. It only locks the metadata. The mint authority and freeze authority are separate, each with its own revoke tool.

Is this the right tool to lock my token details?

Yes, if your branding is final and you want the name, symbol, and logo frozen forever. If you still need to edit anything, use the Update Metadata tool first.
