How to Revoke Freeze Authority on Solana
Remove Solana freeze authority in one transaction: what changes, what to check first, and why buyers care.
Dexmint Admin
Freeze authority is a switch built into many Solana tokens: whoever holds it can freeze any holder token account. This tool removes that power for good. You pick your token, sign one transaction, and the freeze authority is gone, permanently, for everyone including you.
Buyers check for exactly this. Screeners and safety checklists flag tokens whose freeze authority is still active. After your revocation confirms, the mint shows no wallet can freeze its accounts.
What freeze authority is
When a Solana token is created it can include a freeze authority, one address allowed to freeze or thaw any token account of that mint. A frozen account cannot send, receive, or trade the token, while balances, supply, and trading continue unchanged.
That power has legitimate uses: stablecoin issuers and regulated projects use it to meet legal requirements or lock stolen funds. For a typical community token it mostly reads as risk, since a creator who can freeze wallets could freeze everyone except themselves, so many projects revoke it right after launch.
Why buyers check for it
Explorers and token analysis tools read whether the freeze authority is still active straight from the mint. After your revocation confirms, the mint state shows no wallet can freeze token accounts, which turns a promise not to freeze into a fact nobody can undo.
On-chain, revoking is a single instruction that sets the mint freeze authority to none, forever. That permanence is what makes it a credible trust signal, though outside services may need time to refresh their cached data.
The five steps in the form
First you connect the wallet that currently holds the token freeze authority, usually the creator wallet, on Mainnet for a live token or Devnet to rehearse for free. Then you pick the token from your wallet or paste its mint address, and the tool reads it on-chain to show supply, decimals, and whether each authority is still active.
Next you confirm you hold the authority, review the fee ledger with its flat fee and any coupon applied, and sign in your own wallet. You receive the signature with an explorer link, and the freeze authority now reads Revoked. If your wallet is not the authority holder, or the authority is already gone, the tool tells you why before you spend anything.
Before you revoke
Be certain you will never need to freeze accounts. If your project has a compliance requirement or wants the option of locking a hacked wallet, keep the authority and skip this tool. The transaction is prepared for you and signed only in your own wallet, with your keys never leaving it.
Most teams pair this step with revoking the mint authority and making the metadata immutable, the other trust signals traders check before a pool goes live. Those are separate transactions with separate consequences, so revoke each one only when you mean it.
Frequently asked questions
Can I undo this later?
No. It is permanent. Solana does not allow an authority to be added back once set to none, not by you, not by Dexmint, not by anyone.
Does this affect my holders or the supply?
No. Balances, supply, trading, and liquidity are untouched. The only change is that token accounts can never be frozen again.
Is this the right tool to remove the authority?
Yes, if your wallet currently holds the freeze authority and you want it gone permanently. If you want to freeze or thaw specific holder accounts while keeping the authority, use the Freeze Accounts and Unfreeze Accounts tools instead.
