Update Solana Token Metadata

Fix a typo, rebrand, or swap your logo: what token metadata is, when you can change it, and when the door closes.

Dexmint Admin

Typo in the name? Rebranding? New logo? This tool changes how your Solana token appears in wallets and explorers: name, symbol, logo, description, and social links, with no code. You pick the token from your wallet, the form loads its current metadata, you edit what needs changing, and one signature later the change is live.

It works only while the token metadata is still mutable and your connected wallet holds the update authority. The change goes live only when you sign it from that wallet.

What token metadata actually is

A Solana token stores its name and symbol on-chain, plus a link (the URI) to a small JSON file holding the logo, description, and social links. Wallets and explorers read both to display your token. This tool updates that layer and nothing else: your supply, holder balances, and the mint and freeze authorities are untouched.

When you save, Dexmint rebuilds the JSON, pins it to IPFS, and points the on-chain URI at the new file. IPFS addresses derive from the content itself, so the file your token points at can never silently change behind your back.

When you can update, and when you cannot

Updates work only while the metadata is mutable and your wallet is the update authority. If either check fails, the form tells you the moment you select the token, before you spend anything. Within those limits, updates are fully reversible: change your mind tomorrow and update again.

The one-way door is Make Immutable. Once metadata is locked, no one, including you, can ever change it. Fix everything here first, confirm it looks right, and only then lock it as a trust signal for holders.

The update flow and what follows

You connect the wallet that holds the update authority. Without it, no edit can be signed, so rehearse on Devnet before touching a real token on Mainnet. You pick the token from your wallet list or paste the mint address, and Dexmint prefills every field from the current metadata. You fix the name, symbol, or description, upload a new logo, and update the website, Twitter, and Telegram links. Anything you leave alone stays as it is.

The fee ledger shows a flat fee in SOL before you sign, and a coupon code updates the total instantly. Dexmint pins the updated metadata to IPFS and builds the transaction, then your wallet asks for one signature. Seconds later you get the new metadata URI and an explorer link. Explorers usually show the new details within minutes, but some wallets and trackers cache token logos, so an old image can linger. That is their cache, not your token.

Frequently asked questions

Why can I not update my token metadata?

Either the metadata was made immutable, or your connected wallet is not the update authority. Dexmint checks both when you select the token and tells you which one is blocking you.

Does updating metadata affect my supply or holders?

No. It changes only the display layer: name, symbol, logo, description, and links. Balances, total supply, and the mint and freeze authorities are untouched.

Is this the right tool to change how my token looks?

Yes, if the metadata is still mutable and your wallet holds the update authority. If you want to lock the name, symbol, and logo forever instead, use the Make Immutable tool.
